Vox has debuted the AC30S1 guitar amp, which is based on the chimey Top Boost channel of the inimitable AC30. It presents the new amp in a simplified format, dispensing with multiple inputs, tone cut and tremolo circuit.
A fresh take on a classic: Vox’s AC30S1 harnesses the power of the original AC30, but in a simplified format. Is it destined to become a classic in its own right?
While some the original controls have been deleted, the core components of the iconic amp have been retained. A single input, volume controls, treble and bass EQ, digital spring reverb emulation and an effects loop are all present.
Most importantly, the valve-driven character is maintained through its two 12 AX7 preamp tubes and two EL84 power amp tubes.
One major difference, however, is the fact the AC30S1 is a single 12-inch speaker combo. There is an external speaker output for those who crave it, but some players might appreciate not having to lug the backbreaking two 12-inch AC30 to and from gigs.
